Another "Guardians of the Galaxy" superhero has been cast, with Michael Rooker signing on to play the part of Yondu in the upcoming Marvel movie.

Yondu is a game hunter and member of the primitive tribe native to Centauri IV, the first planet system to be colonized outside of the Sun's solar system. Yondu ultimately joins up with other fugitives, and is one of the four founding super heroes of the Guardians of the Galaxy team.

Rooker should fit the part of Yondu nicely, since he just finished a stint on AMC's "The Walking Dead" playing Merle, who helps hunt down zombies. He joins the previously-cast Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer). Zoe Saldana is in talks to play Gamora.

The James Gunn-helmed project still needs to cast its Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Shooting on the film is expected to start this summer, with an August 1, 2014 release date in mind.
