Buckle up, "Fast and Furious" fans. The sixth installment of this car-happy franchise won't even zoom into theaters until the end of May, but Universal is already putting things in motion for "Fast and Furious 7."

James Wan, who wrote and directed "Saw," is currently in talks to take over directing duties from Justin Lin. Wan's wheelhouse is horror; besides launching the "Saw" series," he's got two spooky movies coming out in the next few movies, "The Conjuring" and "Insidious: Chapter 2." It will be interesting to see how he takes on the action franchise, and whether or not he'll introduce some creepy puppets to terrorize Vin Diesel and Paul Walker as they make agonizing decisions over their fates. (You can have that idea for free, James!)

It was announced about a week ago that "Fast and Furious" expert director Justin Lin officially bowed out of the series, which the studio wants to release by summer 2014. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this timetable would have forced Lin to start pre-production on the next film while wrapping up this one. That schedule was a little too fast and furious for Lin, who's already directed four movies in the series.

Yesterday, Wan Tweeted "Vroom Vroooom...," which we can only take to mean he's psyched for "Fast and Furious 7," or else Jigsaw got a new tricycle.
