"Rush" stars Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor) as James Hunt, a British Formula One racer who formed an intense rivalry with Niki Lauda (played in the film by "Inglourious Basterds" star Daniel Bruhl) during the 1976 season. As the trailer points out, Lauda was involved in a horrific crash earlier in the year that left him badly burned, only to come back months later and face down Hunt once again (these dudes are hardcore).
The trailer for "Rush" is terrifically exciting but doesn't slow down too much to give us any real plot specifics. Both Hunt and Lauda seem to be guys who were driven by their rivalry but also something more primordial.
"Rush" also stars Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Natalie Dormer, and Christian McKay. Just as impressive is the behind-the-scenes talent assembled by Howard -- the script was written by "The Queen" and "Frost/Nixon" scribe Peter Morgan, the score composed by Hans Zimmer, and the cinematography orchestrated by genius director of photography Anthony Dod Mantle.
"Rush" zooms into theaters on September 20th.
