Oh, so you say the rumors that Justin Timberlake has been tapped to play Daddy Warbucks aren't true, Sony? That's OK, there are plenty of other musicians-turned-actors who would be perfect for the role.
In case you haven't heard, yes, rumors are flying that Mr. Suit and Tie may star opposite Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") as the iconic super-rich, musically-inclined adoptive father in the remake of "Annie."
Mr. Timberlake's camp has yet to confirm or deny the buzz -- even though his new best friend Jay-Z is developing the project with Will Smith -- so we thought it would be smart to put together a list of other actors/musicians who could slip into Daddy Warbucks's well-tailored suit.
Take a look below at our list of swoon-worthy men who should get a chance to make the sun finally come out (tomorrow) for little Quvenzhané:
He's rich, he looks great in a suit, and he already went bald for a role. After all, Daddy Warbucks is a rich, bald guy who rescues Annie from a life of poverty without ruining his finely-tailored suit! It's a perfect fit!
Ricky Martin as Daddy Warbucks may seem like an odd choice, but Annie is a musical. Martin is an actor, singer and Broadway star. Hello? He's ideal. Forget Mr. Suit and Tie, Mr. La Vida Loca should be the frontrunner.
Sean "P. Diddy" Combs
Well, if anyone was perfect for a role as a filthy rich businessman it would be Sean--aka P.Diddy--Combs. If you think about it, he is Daddy Warbucks! Seriously, think about it.
Considering he is Jay-Z's best friend---or at least he was until JT joined the Illumina... we mean Hov's crew--it would seem like Kayne West would be in the running for the role. Maybe the producers are worried he is going to "pull a Kanye" and interrupt Quvenzhané during "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow."
If there were ever a musician who could make girls swoon just as much--if not more--than Justin Timberlake, it would be Adam Levine. If "Annie's" casting directors are looking to stay within the musicians-that-make-girls-faint category, Mr. Levine would be the perfect Daddy Warbucks.
