With Spring Training in full swing for MLB teams, and the season opener just weeks away, it seems like the perfect time to appreciate the movies -- and the funniest quotes -- that celebrate America's pastime.

If you spend enough time around baseball players, or if you are one yourself, it doesn't take long to realize that the dialogue thrown around on the field is as much a part of the game as hitting and catching. Sometimes comments are meant as encouragement, sometimes they are meant to heckle the other team, but most of the time, what's said on a baseball diamond is just plain funny.

Baseball movies such as "The Sandlot" and "A League of Their Own" capture that element of the sport perfectly. So for baseball fans everywhere, we give you the funniest baseball movie one-liners (sometimes two-liners) we could think of. Take a look below!

  • "Hey Yankees... you can take your apology and your trophy and shove 'em straight up your ass!"

After they lost the championship game they managed to fight their way into, they had this to say to their rival team, the Yankees.

  • "Are you crying? There's no crying in baseball!"

After Jimmy (Tom Hanks), coach of the Rockford Peaches, yells at one of his players and brings her to tears, he screams this famous line.

  • "Evelyn. Your son ate the line-up."

    If you were a housewife in the 1940's who was playing for the first professional female baseball league, and had no one to watch your son during the season, you might have heard this in the dugout.

  • "Great game, Jimmy. I especially liked that move in the seventh inning when you scratched your balls for an hour."

    Tom Hanks played an alcoholic ex-baseball player in "A League of Their Own," and for the first half of the film he was not the world's most attentive coach. The league's owner in the movie had this to say about Jimmy's (Hanks) performance.

  • "You play ball like a girl!"

The kids in the movie were responsible for some memorable one-liners, including this one, which was hurled at a rival team during a heckling match. While we don't agree with the insinuation, the scene is a classic.

  • "You're killin' me, Smalls."

    When the baseball team in <a href= http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-sandlot/7921/main" target="_hplink">"The Sandlot"</a> decides to get together for a sleepover to welcome the new kid, Smalls, the team's catcher, "Ham," is baffled when Smalls doesn't know what a s'more is -- honestly, who wouldn't be?

  • “Remember, fans, Tuesday is Die Hard Night. Free admission for anyone who was actually alive the last time the Indians won the pennant.”

    Before <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/celebrity/charlie-sheen/1255434/main" target="_hplink">Charlie Sheen</a> was "winning," he was losing as a rookie pitcher for the Cleveland Indians in the movie <a href=http://www.moviefone.com/movie/major-league/34511/main" target=_hplink">"Major League."</a> A lot of the film's memorabe quotes, like this one, came from the Indians' announcer, who wasn't shy about taking jabs at the floundering team.

  • "In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar."

    Again, this funny line comes from the Indians' announcer in the film <a href=http://www.moviefone.com/movie/major-league/34511/main" target=_hplink">"Major League,"</a> who is less than impressed with the team's unusual winning streak.

  • "You just got lesson number one: don't think. It can only hurt the ball club."

    <a href=http://www.moviefone.com/movie/bull-durham/4243/main" target="_hplink">"Bull Durham"</a> follows a minor league baseball team throughout the season, particularly an aging catcher (Kevin Costner) and a rookie pitcher who has a good shot of making it into the majors (Tim Robbins). Costner gives Robbins this piece of advice during a game.

  • "Now Henry, the key to being a big league pitcher, is the three R's: readiness, recuperation, and conditioning!"

Which leads to this crucial piece of advice he gives the ball club's new prodigy
