CATEGORIES Movie NewsThe MTV Movie Awards have made a conscious effort this year to shed some of its teeny-bopper image, snubbing usual shoo-in nominees like the "Twilight" series in favor of more prestigious films like "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Lincoln." But the awards haven't completely lost their trademark sense of irreverence, if the new teaser ad promoting the April 17 ceremony is any indication.
The 30-second spot, which debuted today, features awards emcee and nominee Rebel Wilson ("Pitch Perfect") and fellow nominee Channing Tatum ("Magic Mike") in a car under heavy fire. Wilson, in the passenger seat and toting a giant gun, tells Tatum, the driver, that she needs to get a better angle to return fire, and proceeds to climb onto Tatum's lap, straddling the star.
"They're gaining on us!" Wilson screams. "Take your shirt off!"
"How is this helping?!" asks an exasperated Tatum.
Expect similar hijinks from Wilson - and perhaps more hunky co-stars - during the ceremony. The ad makes its TV debut tonight on MTV's 10 Spot.
