We've reached the apex of awards season: The Oscars.
While its the most prestigious gold one can take home in Hollywood, it's also the red carpet to end all red carpets -- and it wouldn't be the most major ceremony without a few upsets.
At the 85th annual Academy Awards, A-listers from Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain to Anne Hathaway and Kristen Stewart put their best fashion foot forward. Below, we've gathered the best and the worst looks of the evening.

BEST: Daniel Day-Lewis
A perfectly tailored tux in a snazzy midnight blue. Can you say winner?
BEST: Octavia Spencer
Swaddled in beige tulle, Octavia Spencer looked effortless in her Tadashi Shoji number.
BEST: Kerry Washington
Take note, everyone. This is how you do an embellished bodice. Washington's Miu Miu dress is significant without being self-serious.
WORST: Amy Adams
No matter how big, dirty-water grey has no place on the red carpet.
(Dress: Oscar De La Renta)
WORST: Sally Field
I think I speak for everyone when I say that Mary Todd would be disappointed.
(Dress by Valentino.)
WORST: Anne Hathaway
Ignoring the obvious point (zing!) of this huge wardrobe blunder, Anne's Prada dress reminds everyone of what they wore to their 8th grade formal.
BEST: Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron has just proved to the world that she can do no wrong.
(Dress by Dior)
BEST: Helen Hunt
Ordinarily, a blue satin strapless wouldn't rub anyone the wrong -- or right -- way. But Helen Hunt was beaming with pride when she said that her dress was by H&M. And that made us all smile.
BEST: Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston described her Valentino as "very 'King and I'" and, you know what, it works!
WORST: Melissa McCarthy
The sweat-pant grey color and Snuggie-style of this dress is sigh-worthy. Then again, very impressive hair verticality.
BEST: Jessica Chastain
Invisible standing ovation for Jessica Chastain. Her pale gold strapless by Giorgio Armani is nothing short of legendary. Welcome to the big leagues, girl.
WORST: Halle Berry
Vegas showgirl meets Star Trek dress uniform. What I'm trying to say is, this is no good.
BEST: Salma Hayek
It's not hard for Salma to inspire envy, but she looks positively regal in this Alexander McQueen stunner.
BEST: Nicole Kidman
Prettiest scales since "The Rainbow Fish."
(Dress: L'Wren Scott)
WORST: Jennifer Garner
This custom-made Gucci has a few positives -- the very fetching eggplant and fit are perfect. But...the backside ruffle? Nope.
BEST: Amanda Seyfried
The "Les Mis" star looked like a dream in this embroidered Alexander McQueen.
BEST: Kristen Stewart
While at first glance the Reem Acra number looks like a table runner, it's actually a very nice table runner.
WORST: Jennifer Lawrence
The unimpeachable starlet wore a duvet-inspired wedding dress by Dior. It's confusing, but it's not so bad because it's still on Jennifer Lawrence.
