More "Star Wars 7" news today, this one courtesy of Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

Talking about the upcoming sequel with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said that he and original cast members Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher have been discussing the possibility of returning to the franchise. "They're talking to us," he said. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts -- they would write us out. I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am."

Though plot details about the new flick are currently non-existent, that didn't stop the 61-year-old Hamill from speculating on what the story may include. "I'm assuming, because I haven't talked to the writers, that these movies would be about our offspring -- like my character would be sort of in the Obi-Wan range [as] an influential character."

He also weighed in on the possible look of "Star Wars 7," stating that he hopes the filmmakers find "the right balance" of computer graphics and more traditional special effects. "I love props, I love models, miniatures, matte paintings -- I'm sort of old school. I think if you go too far in the direction of CGI it winds up looking like just a giant a video game, and that's unfortunate."

For those keeping track, a new trilogy -- which includes the aforementioned "Star Wars 7" -- has been confirmed, along with spin-off movies for popular "Star Wars" characters Han Solo and the bounty hunter Boba Fett.

  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 22

He's proven he can be a romantic lead in "Anna Karenina" and an action hero in "Kick-Ass." Okay, so he got overshadowed by a little girl and Nicolas Cage in a Batsuit, but we'd still be willing to see what Taylor-Johnson would do behind the wheel of the Millennium Falcon.

  • Liam Hemsworth, 23

The Aussie hunk is already committed to the "Hunger Games" franchise, but who says you can only have one? If Liam were cast as young Solo, the Internet will endlessly debate who'd win in a fight: Han or Thor (who's played by Liam's even hunkier brother, Chris).

  • Garret Hedlund, 28

The star of "Tron: Legacy" is certainly handsome enough to remind us of a young Han Solo, but we doubt there'll be any threesomes in space (sorry, "On the Road" fans). It also may be tough for him to join the franchise, since he's already committed to the "Tron" sequel.

  • Logan Lerman, 21

Lerman's played the hero in "Three Musketeers," but we see him as more of a Luke Skywalker type than a rascally scoundrel. However, if young Han requires a lot more innocence than what we've seen previously, Lerman could be the guy.

  • Alden Ehrenreich, 23

The star of the upcoming "Beautiful Creatures" is sure to gain a huge following after the movie opens on Feb. 14. The lead role in the fantasy romance is one that shows some of Han's irreverence, derring-do, humor and, of course, flair for wearing down the resistance of a girl he likes.

  • Jake Abel, 25

Lerman's "Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief" co-star was also in "I Am Number Four" and will play Ian in the upcoming sci-fi flick "The Host," based on the book by "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyers. "Supernatural" fans will remember him as Adam, Sam and Dean's half-brother, which means he's more than a little bit badass.

  • Scott Eastwood, 26

Even though he's got one of the most famous names in Hollywood, Clint's easy-on-the-eyes son is still kind of an unknown. So far, we've only seen him in a few films, like "Texas Chainsaw 3D" and small roles in his dad's films, including "Gran Torino," "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Trouble With the Curve."

  • Kit Harington, 26

The British actor who plays bastard Jon Snow on "Game of Thrones" is one we'd like to see more of. But he's committed to three upcoming films -- including the lead in "Pompeii" and might not be able to squeeze in a film as big as "Star Wars."

  • Dave Franco, 27

He's yet to match the fame of his brother James, but Dave is hitting his stride with "21 Jump Street" and "Warm Bodies" in which we've seen he could pull off Han's trademark snark and wit.

  • Emile Hirsch, 27

Hirsch has shown his acting chops in the intense real-life-inspired drama "Into the Wild," and has lately favored indie fare like "Milk," and "Killer Joe." He went mainstream with "Speed Racer," but it flopped so badly it might have scared him off big-budget CGI films for good.

  • Max Irons, 27

The English actor (his dad is Oscar-winner Jeremy Irons) will make up one-third of the love triangle in the upcoming "The Host." He also starred in the horrible "Red Riding Hood," but we'll overlook that.

  • Shia LaBeouf, 26

We know, we know, but this could be a possibility: He's already played Indiana Jones's son, so would a role as the young Han Solo be such a stretch? LaBeouf also played a smartass and stood up to killer robots in the "Transformer" series, so by comparison, Boba Fett wouldn't look so tough. His offscreen bad boy persona could work against his being cast, though. (Also, that whole thing about only wanting to act in indie movies from now on might make him disqualified.)

  • Dane DeHaan, 27

We'll be seeing a lot more of the "Chronicle" star since his upcoming slate includes "Kill Your Darlings," "The Place Beyond the Pines" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," as Harry Osborn. Is there room in there for a turn as Han?

  • Rupert Friend, 31

The British hunk played a cad in "Pride and Prejudice" opposite Keira Knightley, so we know he's got "charming" and "scoundrel" down pat. And as a Black Ops on "Homeland," we've seen he can do tough as well.
