CATEGORIES Movie NewsBack in February, Moviefone was invited to visit the set of "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone." The upcoming comedy stars Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi as cheesy Siegfried and Roy-type Vegas performers who face competition from a Criss Angel-esque street magician, played by Jim Carrey. Expect lots of sequins, velvet, outrageous hair, ridiculous stage moves and, of course, hilarity, when the movie opens on March 15, 2013.
While on set, we were treated to a scene in which Carell (who plays Burt Wonderstone) and Buscemi (as his partner Anton Marvelton) recruit a hapless stagehand (Olivia Wilde) to become their new assistant. She's just the latest in a long line of disgruntled sidekicks who have quit because of the duo's constant squabbling.
We also sat down for interviews with Carell about his impressive chest hair, Buscemi on returning to comedy after playing a gangster on "Boardwalk Empire" and Wilde about working with her comedy idols. They also spoke about meeting with real-life magician David Copperfield, who has a cameo in the film.
The comedy is directed by Don Scardino. It's the filmmaker's first feature, after stints on on "30 Rock," "Rescue Me" and "Law & Order." "Burt Wonderstone" co-stars James Gandolfini, Alan Arkin and Jay Mohr as another magician named "Rick the Implausible."
