CATEGORIES Movie NewsMoviefone's New Release Pick of the Week "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Available for DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on Friday, November 9. Check cable system for OnDemand availability) What's It About? Andrew Garfield does whatever a spider can. See It Because: It's not a flawless movie and it is not different enough from the still-fresh-in-our-minds Sam Raimi trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. But the parts of the movie that are unique -- the budding teen angsty romance between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone -- are fresh, funny and energetic. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix | Redbox Blu-ray & DVD)
Moviefone's Blu-ray Pick of the Week "The Muppet Christmas Carol" (It's Not Easy Being Scrooge Special Edition) What's It About? The Muppets team up with Michael Caine to tell a faithful (and slapstick) adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic. See It Because: Halloween may have just ended (or never happened thanks to Hurricane Sandy), but it's never too early to shove Christmas commercialism down our throats. Somewhere underneath all the bells and whistles of this new edition is a sweet and hilarious holiday film, and director Brian Henson carries on the spirit of his father Jim.
New on Blu-ray and DVD "Arthur Christmas" What's It About? Aardman Animation, the British stop-motion studio behind "Wallace & Gromit" and '"Pirates! Band of Misfits," offer up a CGI feature about Santa's family business and the goofy son that has to take it over. Even with the stylistic change, it's still as funny as their previous efforts. See It or Skip It: See it. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix | Redbox)
"[REC] 3: Genesis" What's It About? The Spanish zombie series (that inspired the American "Quarantine") gets another installment when the mysterious biblical zombie plague descends upon a luxurious wedding and the happy newlyweds must mow down the undead with a chainsaw. See It or Skip It: See it, if you're a horror junkie. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix | Redbox)
"360" What's It About? The director of "City of God" teams up Jude Law, Anthony Hopkins and an international cast for several inter-connected stories revolving around love and sex; some of the stories are more interesting than others, so it's a real mixed bag. See It or Skip It: See it, for the good parts, but brace yourself for the boring parts. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix)
"Trishna" What's It About? Frieda Pinto (the "Slumdog Millionaire" beauty) stars in a modern, Indian-set adaptation of the classic romance "Tess of de'Urbervillles." See It or Skip It: See it, if you're a softie for passionate (and sometimes tragic) romances. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix)
"Your Sister's Sister" What's It About? Emily Blunt stars in an indie comedy-drama as a woman stuck in a family cabin with her best friend and her sister, who have just started sleeping together.
