Here, Perry plays the titular character, a homicide detective and psychologist who looks to track down a murderer known as Picasso (Matthew Fox). But when the two come face-to-face, things begin to get physical, as Cross and Picasso beat each other up with anything in reach -- knives, rocks, guns; Perry's Cross even throws in a karate kick for good measure.
"Alex Cross" is based on the bestselling novels by James Patterson (the character had previously been played by Morgan Freeman in "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider").
