With the summer ending and school starting up, this may seem like the worst time in the world for your kids. But fear not because as our fall movie previews have shown, there are a bevy of exciting blockbusters hitting your local theaters, even while the leaves fall to the ground.

Your kids will love the selection of family films arriving this season, whether they're a video game nut, book-lover, glee geek or fledgling surfer. And if that wasn't enough, there's a candy-bag full of Halloween movie selections from Tim Burton, Adam Sandler and Nickelodeon.

  • "Finding Nemo 3D"

  • "Hotel Transylvania"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> September 28 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> The voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez and Kevin James <strong>What's It About?</strong> An over-protective Dracula invites his monster buddies (Frankenstein, the Wolfman, Mummy) to celebrate his sheltered daughter's 18th birthday -- at the exact same time she makes first contact with (an especially cute) human. <strong>Why We're Excited:</strong> The creator of "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Samurai Jack" reins in the Sandler crew of comedians for a genuinely clever monster mash.

  • "Frankenweenie"

    <strong>Release Date: </strong>October 5 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> The voices of Winona Ryder, Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara <strong>What's It About? </strong> Tim Burton offers his own creepy canine spin on the story of "Frankenstein" in this black-and-white tale of a boy who brings his departed dog back to life. <strong>Why We're Excited: </strong> The stop-motion animation homage to the Boris Karloff classic is the exact jolt of energy that can bring Burton's creativity back to life.

  • "Pitch Perfect"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> October 5 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Banks <strong>What's It About?</strong> A new girl at school revamps the all-girls choir group into something much hipper and leads the charge against the domineering boys squad of champions. <strong>Why We're Excited: </strong> If your tween already loves "Glee" they will probably get a kick out this poppy battle of the sexes.

  • "Here Comes the Boom"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> October 12 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> Kevin James, Henry Winkler, Salma Hayek <strong>What's It About?</strong> James stars as a former college wrestler-turned-science teacher who secretly moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter to raise money for his school's arts program, before it gets shut down. <strong>Why We're Excited:</strong> Whether he's a mall cop or a zookeeper, James is definitely a crowd-pleaser; plus, we're genuinely curious to see his surprisingly limber slapstick in the octagon.

  • "Chasing Mavericks"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> October 26 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> Gerard Butler, Elisabeth Shue, Johnny Weston <strong>What's It About? </strong> This true story of Jay Moriarity, an internationally renowned teenage, chronicles his friendship and training under a local wave-riding legend (played by Butler). <strong>Why We're Excited: </strong>It's somewhere between the surprise hit "Soul Surfer" and the classic "Karate Kid."

  • "Fun Size"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> October 26 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> Victoria Justice, Johnny Knoxville, Chelsea Handler <strong>What's It About? </strong> Justice stars as a young girl stuck with babysitting her little brother while he goes trick-or-treating; but when she loses track of him while sneaking off to a cool guy's party, she spends the night trying to locate him in a madcap Halloween adventure. <strong>Why We're Excited:</strong> Josh Schwartz, creator of "Gossip Girl" and "The O.C." teams with Nickelodeon to direct his first feature, and the end result is a surprisingly ribald teen movie that feels like "Adventures in Babysitting." Plus, Halloween!

  • "Wreck-It Ralph"

Reilly, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman <strong>What's It About? </strong> Ralph, the bad-guy from a "Donkey Kong"-esque arcade game grows tired of his villainous routine, and escapes through the world of video games, to prove that he can be a hero. <strong>Why We're Excited:</strong> With cameos ranging from "Pac-Man" to "Street Fighter," this inventive comedy could do for video games what "Toy Story" did for toys.

  • "Rise of the Guardians"

    <strong>Release Date: </strong>November 23 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> The voices of Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law and Chris Pine <strong>What's It About? </strong> Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Jack Frost team up to fight the Boogeyman in a fantasy adventure epic from Dreamworks Animation. <strong>Why We're Excited: </strong> Do you need to re-read the "What's It About" section?

  • "Life of Pi"

    <strong>Release Date:</strong> November 23 <strong>Who's In It:</strong> Suraj Sharma <strong>What's It About?</strong> The best-selling novel about Pi, a 16-year-old boy who survives a shipwreck and is stranded in the ocean with a hyena, orangutan, wounded zebra and Bengal tiger, is finally brought to the screen by Ang Lee. <strong>Why We're Excited:</strong> It spent years in development, with several directors attached, and we can't wait to see how Lee ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon") films the fantastical adventure.
