Here, Kathryn Bigelow re-teams with her "Hurt Locker" screenwriter Mark Boal to depict the hunt for notorious terrorist and al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden.
While the film's writer/director are Oscar-winners -- and are joined by a stellar cast, which includes Kyle Chandler, Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong and Mark Duplass -- "Zero Dark Thirty" has not been a cinch to pull off.
Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, raised concerns over whether or not Bigelow and Boal were being leaked classified material regarding the capture and assassination of the late al Qaeda leader. Soon after, it was confirmed that the writer/director were given unprecedented access by the CIA for their film. They met with a "planner, Operator and Commander of SEAL Team Six," the team responsible for the capture and killing of bin Laden.
But there's more! Initially, "Zero Dark Thirty" was going to be shot in Pakistan, where bin Laden was captured on May 2, 2011 but the film was denied access by the government. Bigelow then moved production to Chandigarh, India. During the production, the town was designed to look like the Paskistan town of Lahore, including dressing their extras in Pakistani garb.
So, it's been a very long road for Bigelow's new film but now you can check out the teaser above.
"Zero Dark Thirty" hits theaters December 19.
