Lupe Ontiveros, who starred in the 1997 film "Selena," died today at the age of 69, after a battle with liver cancer.
Though Ontiveros played Selena's killer in the Jennifer Lopez flick, the actress was best known as the consummate maid of film (she's estimated to have played the role around 300 times, both in film and on stage).
Her "Selena" co-star Jacob Vargas was at her bedside last night, and broke the news via twitter.
My friend Lupe Ontiveros just passed away. May you rest in peace. Thank you for your great contribution to film and TV. You will be missed.— Jacob Vargas (@TheJacobVargas) July 27, 2012
Ontiveros' other film roles include "The Goonies," and "As Good As it Gets"; more recently, she appeared in "Desperate Housewives" -- which earned her an Emmy nomination.
