CATEGORIES Movie NewsSad news to report out of San Diego. According to News10Now, a "Twilight" fan at Comic-Con has died after being struck by a car outside the San Diego Convention Center. The 53-year-old woman had allegedly been rushing to get in line for the highly anticipated "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" panel taking place on Thursday.
"Apparently the pedestrian, as she went [along] the crosswalk, stumbled and fell and struck the vehicle as it passed by her," SDPD Sgt. Ron Glass told 10News.
In recent years, the "Twilight" panel in Hall H has become one of the most popular events at Comic-Con, with thousands of "Twilight" fans lining up to see exclusive footage and get a glimpse of their favorite stars.
This year's Comic-Con starts on Thursday, July 12.
UPDATE: Lionsgate, the studio behind the "Twilight" series, has just released a statement regarding the news.
Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H.
