Actor and comedian Tommy Chong has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

In an interview with CNN, the 74-year-old comic revealed to anchor Don Lemon that he had been diagnosed about a month ago and that the cancer is currently in a "slow stage one."

As for treatment, Chong is doing it the only way he knows how: "with hemp oil [and] with cannabis... So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested." (Chong reiterated to Lemon that he quit smoking marijuana a year ago and now ingests hemp oil instead.)

Tommy Chong is best known for his work in the comedy duo Cheech & Chong (with fellow actor/comedian Cheech Marin), having appeared in such pot-friendly movies as "Up in Smoke" and "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie." Tommy has also had a prolific television career as well, guest-starring on "That 70s Show," "Dharma & Greg" and "Miami Vice."

The actor's last film was the 2011 animated flick "Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil," in which he voiced the character of Stone.
