Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to play the villain in "Thor 2," which, if it happens, would mean the epic meeting of One-Eye and Odin. (For those who haven't seen "Vahalla Rising," Mikkelsen plays One-Eye, a mute Norse warrior with just, uh...one eye).

Mikkelsen's made something of a career playing similar characters: He donned a patch as Rochefort in 2011's "The Three Musketeers," and famously shed tears of blood from an injured orb in "Casino Royale."

Will Mads continue his role of cycloptic villains in the future? Maybe. Nevertheless, he's hardly the first actor to rock an eye patch: From Samuel L. Jackson in "The Avengers" to Daryl Hannah in "Kill Bill," let's take a look at the most memorable one-eyed movie characters ever.

  • 13. B.O.B, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

    This happy-go-lucky blob (full name Benzoate Ostylezene Bicarbonate), is a cross between a genetically altered tomato and a chemically altered ranch dessert topping. He feels no pain, so he's able to take out his own eye for a better look in literally eye-popping 3D.

  • 12. One-Eye, "Valhalla Rising"

    Mikkelsen is a tour-de-force as the mysterious, mute warrior who's been forced to fight for his life by his cruel captors. He's dubbed One-Eye by the boy whose life he saves -- but what he (and the audience) mostly sees is blood.

  • 11. Commander Francesca "Franky" Cook, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow "

    Angelina Jolie wears an eye patch for unknown reasons in this retro-futurist sci-fi flick. We might have found out how she lost her eye if there'd been a sequel, <a href="http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/546/546860p1.html" target="_hplink">which of course there wasn't</a>.

  • 10. Ragetti, "Pirates of the Caribbean" Trilogy

    Ragetti's wooden eye causes him so much discomfort, you'd think he'd be relieved to lose it for good and just keep the piratey patch from "At World's End." Instead, he dreams of a glass eye (which he'd probably just lose).

  • 9. Cyclops, "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad"

    This one-eyed creation of monster master Ray Harryhausen picked the wrong sailor to mess with, since Sinbad blinds the behemoth with one jab.

  • 8. Rochefort, "The Three Musketeers"

    The always dashing Christopher Lee, who played Rochefort in the '70s films, <a href="http://movieclips.com/95h3-the-three-musketeers-movie-forgive-me-madam-but-i-must-kill-your-friend/" target="_hplink">suggested the eyepatch</a> (it wasn't in the books), a style choice echoed by Michael Wincott in the '93 version and now Mikkelsen, whose eyepatch is bedazzled!

  • 7. Odin, "Thor"

    Although we didn't see it in "Thor," Odin sacrificed an eye to stop Ragnarok, the destruction of the Gods. Of course, that hasn't gotten in the way of his ruling Asgard with an iron hand and a mean-looking metal eye patch.

  • 6. Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, "Harry Potter" series

    Since he's a wizard, he's got the best -- and possibly creepiest --prosthetic eye ever, with magical powers of its own. (He lost the real thing in the First Wizarding War, as well as a leg and part of his nose, making him as much pirate as wizard.)

  • 5. Number Two, "Austin Powers" series

    Inspired by the similarly one-eyed character in the James Bond film "Thunderball," with a notable difference: Number Two's eye patch has X-ray vision, but not, alas, any frickin' lasers.

  • 4. Elle Driver, "Kill Bill"

    This fierce assassin lost her eye to martial-arts master Pai-Mei, who plucked it out after she angered him. Even when she's disguised as a nurse, she accessorizes hers with a candy-striper patch instead of the usual all-black.

  • 3. Mike Wazowski, "Monsters, Inc."

    He's green, he's sarcastic and he's a little sensitive about his appearance. "Blame it on the little guy! How original! He must have read the schedule wrong with his ONE EYE!" he gripes to pal Sully, who calls him "Little Blinky."

  • 2. Nick Fury, "The Avengers"

    The original Marvel character lost his eye in World War II, <a href="http://marvel.com/universe/Fury%2C_Nick_%28Ultimate%29" target="_hplink">but in the "Ultimate" version</a>, Fury was injured in the Gulf War. Jackson told EW that acting <a href="http://www.contactmusic.com/news/one-eyed-jackson-struggled-to-learn-his-lines_1323469" target="_hplink">with the patch posed a unique problem</a>: "I had to take [the script], cover my eye, and relearn the lines... My brain wouldn't let me learn it with two eyes and then put the patch on and remember them."

    The ultimate B-movie anti-hero may have lost his eye, but rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated. He's still badass enough to break into New York City (which is now a maximum security prison) and rescue the president, even though he really doesn't give a damn.
