(Also not helping: It had been 10 years since the last "Men in Black" flick, a movie that -- despite making a boatload of cash -- both fans and critics ended up disliking. Therefore, it's not like anyone had been clamoring for "MIB 3.")
Nevertheless, "Men in Black 3" came out on top over the long holiday weekend, bringing in $70 million (along with a $133.2 million take in non-domestic theaters). The tally was enough to knock off the previous box-office behemoth, "The Avengers," which brought in $46.9 M. (It also helped devote attention away from Will Smith slapping journalists and director Barry Sonnenfeld complaining about the press.)
Anyway, it appears all those "Is Will Smith still a big box-office draw?" queries can be put to rest -- at least for the time being.
