The Master Teaser Trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson fans finally have something to discuss other than rumors regarding the director's upcoming film, "The Master."

Up until this point, the only information about the movie was that it was loosely tied to a Scientology-like religion. According to the official synopsis, "The Master" stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as "a charismatic intellectual [who] launches a faith-based organization and taps a young drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) as his right-hand man. But as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the onetime vagabond finds himself questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor."

The first teaser, which just debuted over on the film's site, features Phoenix as the aforementioned drifter Freddie Quell, being interviewed by a military officer about his current state of mind and violent episodes he's had in the past. (Just a guess, but maybe this interview is taking place after Phoenix's character begins "questioning the belieft system"?)

You can watch the teaser above.

"The Master," which stars Hoffman, Phoenix and Amy Adams, hits theaters October 12.

Between this, Django Unchained, and Prometheus I am pretty damn excited about movies this year.
