2012 Summer Movie Preview: Family Films

School's out -- time for some summer fun! There's no better feeling than sleeping in, exploring your neighborhood and staying out late. Frankly, we're jealous of all the young kids that get three whole carefree months of relaxation and adventure, capped off with a cool matinee in an air-conditioned theater.

This summer has got new offerings from the likes of Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks animation and features everything from heroic princesses to ghost-talking kids to battling dance squads. (And we can't forget about the nut-chasing Scrat the Squirrel.)

Below, check out Moviefone's round up of cartoons and family films we're most psyched for this season.

Release Date: June 1
Who's In It: Marques Houston, Lynn Whitfield
What It's About: A young hotshot dance instructor is tasked with turning a rowdy group of tweens into an elite dance squad, for an underground competition featuring the absolute best street dancers.
Why We're Excited: "Battlefield" takes the energetic fun of "You Got Served" and twists it on its head with the flavor of "School of Rock." Get ready to be blown away by the athletic stylings of a dance crew that still can't stay up past 10pm. (And we can't wait to see the braces-strapped bad guy.)
