Anthony Hopkins As Alfred Hitchcock: First Photo From The 'Psycho' Director's Biopic

Posted: Updated: 04/19/2012 10:42 am

Over the years, filmmakers have tried (and failed) to imitate the original Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. However, Anthony Hopkins is sure doing his best to at least look like the late director.

In the first photo from the upcoming biopic, "Hitchcock," the Oscar-winning actor imitates Alfred's iconic silhouette (jowls included). Amazingly, Sir Hopkins is almost unrecognizable in the picture.

The film, which chronicles the making of the iconic horror movie "Psycho," began principal photography just last week. Along with Hopkins, "Hitchcock" stars Helen Mirren as Alma, the director's wife; Scarlett Johansson as "Psycho" star Janet Leigh; James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins a.k.a. Norman Bates; and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles.

Could another Oscar be in store for Sir Anthony? If this picture is any indication, then yes.

"Hitchcock," directed by Sacha Gervasi, is set for a 2013 release date.

Anthony Hopkins could believably play a '57 Buick.

Hopkins looks as much like Alfred Hitchcock as he did Richard Nixon, meaning not at all.

I'm glad they're making a movie about Alfred Hitchcock! Anthony Hopkins is a very good actor and I think he will do a good job playing Hitchcock! I just hope he gets the voice right. Hitchcock had such a distinct voice! I wonder why Jamie Lee Curtis isn't playing her mother, Janet Leigh. It seems to me she would be the right person for the part! I'm not sure that Scarlett Johansson is. We'll see what the film is like when it comes out!

At this point in her life Jamie is too old to play play the young Vivian Leigh, don't you think?

Sorry, I meant Janet Leigh.

If I'd seen that picture without being told who he was supposed to be I would never have thought it was Hitchcock. Just looks like some old lawyer or politician.
On the other hand, look at the photo of Hitch and you can see Spacey's mouth, cheeks and eyes...

Meh.....
I think I'd given it a shot with John Goodman first.
Maybe even Kevin Spacey. Hopkins looks more like
Jack nicholson from "The Bucket List".

Very good imitation and what better qualified man than Hopkins? Hopkins will have to make a cameo in the movie too, just like Hitchcock. Can't wait to see it. After Remains of the Day, I have a greater respect for Hopkins acting skills.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Anthony Hopkins...and Alfred, too...Oscar, indeed!

There is some similarity there. Whoever thought a guy like Hopkins could even remotely ever resemble Hitchcock later in life? He was one of a kind.
