'The Three Stooges' Prescription Drug Ad Banned By CBS For NCAA Championship: Report (UPDATE)

Your nyucks aren't welcome here.

According to Deadline.com, CBS recently rejected an ad for the upcoming "Three Stooges" movie. The one-minute spot, which you can watch above, spoofs a generic prescription drug ad.

"Ever dropped a bell on a nun, ripped the armpit hair off an old man, or stuffed a live lobster down a loved one's pants? Then you may suffer from being a stooge," states the commercials' narrator.

The spot was originally scheduled to play during the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Monday night, however, according to the report, the television network banned it because it "[made] light of prescription drug ads." (We've reached out to CBS for comment on the story but have yet to hear back.)

The spoof goes on to say that three in six billion people are afflicted by Stoogation, which means you (probably) have nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the actual film; considering the lukewarm response the first two trailers elicited, "The Three Stooges" may not be the hit the Farrelly Brothers were hoping for.

You'll have to wait until April 13, when the movie hits theaters, to find out.

UPDATE: Deadline has received reports from CBS that the ad had "been intended to air during earlier NCAA rounds, not before tonight’s championship game."

There are more than 3 in 6 billion as there are at least one more at CBS who made this decision, probably took a doazen or so CBS execs to make this decision

The political correctness police have struck again, yet it is more like the Big Pharms would pull thier ads and we can't have laughs at big Pharma expense.

I'm not going to get tecnical on you people about what makes the stooges funny, but from what i see innthe previews the movie has not in anyway hit the mark and for that reason I will not go see the movie, and will never view it unless it is free and I'm bored. The Three stooges humor is actually very sophisticated, although i dont think the stooges themselves were really aware of what made them popular, they did what felt right at the time, at it was funny. But you see over time they did what all shows do and trade the creativity for security and begin to simply repeat themselves and it looses its subliminal conections and it just because obviously over played. The movie is clearly a movie based on all the later work of the stooges and is a scripted redo of all the over played scripted nonsense.

These guys are so NOT the Stooges. No one will ever be able to capture the real Stooges. (Larry, Moe and Curly) Never could get into Shemp.

So CBS has a problem with making fun of prescription drug ads? When 50% of the length of the ads are disclaimers about the advertised drugs I'd think they'd be fair game for making fun of. Besides, as long as the Stooges ad doesn't specifically target a company that advertises on CBS, what's the big deal?

"The spoof goes on to say that three in six billion people are afflicted by Stoogation"

The writer has obviously never visited this site!, where the numbers are much higher. I understand that Stoogation is slighty above "Liberalgation," intellectually speaking!"

I just can`t believe that they`re making a Three Stooges movie. American producers are running out of ideas. What`s next? Laurel and Hardy, Felix The Cat or Topper. I better be careful about what I say.
