Katniss Hunger Games Archer

You know archery's reached critical mass in pop culture when even sweet little Snow White (on ABC's "Once Upon a Time") is wielding a bow and arrow. Thank the runaway success of "The Hunger Games" for giving this ancient weapon a futuristic boost, and for placing it in the hands of such a likable heroine as Katniss Everdeen. But others are following the trend: Pixar's upcoming animated flick, "Brave," features an equally bold bow-and-arrow-toting heroine. Sure, you have a soft spot for arrow-slingering fellas like Legolas and Robin Hood, and you're just dying to see Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye in "The Avengers," here's to the women warriors whose archery skills make us bow before them.

When you're starving and you live in the woods, using a bow and arrow isn't just a hobby. This tribute really made an impression at the Capitol -- where her apple-piercing accuracy earned her a sky-high training score. (And saving her life.)
