Hunger Games Clip: Katniss And Gale

"The Hunger Games" finally arrives in theaters on Friday! If you can't wait to see what the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins's best-selling book, though, here's some good news: an exclusive new clip of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) saying goodbye after the Reaping.

"I had a very strong sense when I saw 'Winter's Bone' that Jennifer Lawrence was going to be the right person," director Gary Ross told Moviefone about his casting process. "And then when I met Jen, I was even more convinced. She just sort of blew me away. So it was an easy decision."

You can get a sense of why Lawrence blew Ross away in the clip above, but don't sleep on Hemsworth; he's got just the right amount of nobility and toughness to play Gale.

"The Hunger Games" is in theaters on Friday. Check back to Moviefone all week for more on the highly anticipated film.

Yeah I finished the trilogy. Took two days. The trailer is way better. Jennifer Lawrence captures way more feeling and depth that the first book conveys but which becomes unraveled in the followup books. The later pages just become too unbelievable. I'm sorry I questioned the main character all the time. It seems to have all the right elements. Weird when every other character is someone to care about but not the main one. Vapid arrogant ignorant narcissism? Maybe? Maybe?? But maybe? Everything is my fault (joke for those who suffered through).

However, it might make a nice screen adaptation in the right hands because we're not going to hear her "think" and if the number of certain elements are completely removed and not repeated ad nausem. The movie seems to take the essence and make her a much better character.

Hence the trailer looks most promising. Save yourself time. Don't read it. Just don't. The odds are not in your favour

The japanesse should be able to collect royalties on all these films about the lower classes taking over. All their movies and anime have been ripped off for years by uk and us. Sorry idiots but this movie has already been made. Battle royale in Japan.

I believe the movie is an adaptation from a book.
If it's a straight rip from a Japanese movie then royalties should be paid.
I would likely watch it either way don't see how that makes me an idiot

I also want to add that it addresses the reality shows we have today. Why do we would watch the downfall of others just so we can be entertained? I really suggest you read before criticizing.

Your joking right? Then the Japanese should be paying royalties to the Greeks and their story of Theseus which the author said she based the story from. And all the zombie, end of the world movies, and other mythical creatures should be paying royalties to the original creators! My point is since when has any story been completely original? Very few. Most stories are INSPIRED by other novels and poems. If you actually read the Hunger Games book you would see there isn't much of a similarity other than kids fighting to death. It has themes of an oppressive country that uses the death of children to exert control.

And I love Battle Royal, but what you are saying is ridiculous.

20 pages into the third of the trilogy. First book okay, second ending wasn't great and now I can't really continue, not caring about the main character. There's no character arc. I can't believe this is that popular and wonder if people are really this stupid and shallow for making such a big deal about such a weak series.

Perhaps the movie will portray this better, so we don't have to be subjected to 20 ideas versus only the one action that matters on the screen. The actors and the trailer convey a lot

Nooooooooooooo, it can't be that lame line!!!! In the book seems like Gale is going to say something important ("Katniss, remember, I.....") and in the film is that soulless line: "I'll see you soon"...Are you f.... kidding me!!!!
