Despite not getting an Oscar nod for his trou-less performance in "Shame," Michael Fassbender has had quite a year. And it doesn't seem like the star has any intention of slowing down.

Fassbender is in negotiations to play the lead in Gerardo Naranjo's ("Miss Bala") romdram "The Mountain Between Us." Based on Charles Martin's novel of the same name, the story follows two plane crash survivors as they try to navigate the Colorado wilderness and end up -- duh -- falling in love.

This romantic turn would be a nice change of pace for Fassbender who has a slew of boyish flicks coming up, including reuniting with "Shame" director Steve McQueen for the Brad Pitt-produced "Twelve Years a Slave" and Ridley Scott's long-awaited "Prometheus."
