Wes Anderson has ventured into the least kitschy realm of directing: car commercials. But, somehow, this scalawag was able to add a pinch of oddball whimsy here, too.

Hyundai released two commercials from the offbeat auteur to promote their new luxury vehicle, the Azera. If Hyundai was looking to tap into the hipster market, mission accomplished; both commercials have all the trappings of an Anderson flick -- antiquated aviation, frenzied protagonists and perfectly twee details.

For the non-vehicular inclined, the commercials serve as an unexpected appetizer before his sure-to-be adorable feature, "Moonrise Kingdom," which hits theaters May 25.
