During the ceremony, a group of domestic workers, dubbed as the Real-Life "Help," came together to watch the awards and celebrate the achievements of director Tate Taylor's Oscar-nominated film.
"It has brought awareness, and today is such a big day that we're looking forward to opening that gap that is going to make domestic workers understand and the people understand how much we need their support," said one partygoer.
"It's the first time we're seeing the domestic workers be on the center stage and we're really excited," added another attendee.
"The Help," which followed the plight of 1960s domestic workers and one writer's quest to tell their story, was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress (Viola Davis) and two Best Supporting Actress awards (Jessica Chastain and Spencer); Spencer was the only one to walk away with a trophy.
