Nick Nolte Oscars 2012 Red Carpet: Academy Award-Nominee Says Old Timers Will Rule Awards (VIDEO)

Nick Nolte, an Oscar nominee at the 84th annual Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, hit the red carpet on Sunday evening and provided some difficult interview opportunities for entertainment reporters.

"If I knew what you said, I could probably answer you," he told ABC red carpet reporter Louise Roe, before awkwardly explaining that he keeps two crows as pets.

Speaking earlier to a Reuters reporter, Nolte discussed the ages of his fellow nominees, 82-year-olds Christopher Plummer and Max Von Sydow, and how one of them was likely to win Best Supporting Actor.

"Age will take it," he said.

Plummer, who starred as a terminally ill man who recently came out as a homosexual in "Beginners," is favored to win the Oscar later this evening.

Asked what he would do without acting, Nolte quipped, "I was always a good thief."

My first memories of Nolte was one of the sons in "Rich Man Poor Man" and Ed Asner has his father. He was truly, the most handsome and wonderful actor of the time. I'm glad he's still with us, his shortcomings are most likely due to "life" as it comes to all of us. Harder on some than others. Good to see you Nick.

He is a bit confused due to a motorcycle accident he had some years back. It nearly ruined his career due to memory problems. He looks pretty darn good for all he has been through.

I have always enjoyed Nolte. I'm glad to see he has decided his mug shot won't define him. While down and out (in beverly hills) for a while, he seems to be getting his life back in order. Not an easy task for any of us.

What's so bad about his looks? The comments just reflect what he is addressing when he says that older actors are overlooked..Nick has been around a long time along with Jack... Hell he is getting up there... I think he looks great as he has that Ernest Hemingway thing locked down. His hearing is a bit rough like his voice but hey he is a real guy.

That's what happens when they try to look 20 again and as I've said before-- thin on a 20 year old looks good, -- everything is tight and firm--but she's closing in on 40 and she needs to put on some weight -- plus what was that act - the leg showing and the hand on hip--like she had something to prove! I loved it when the winners she announced -- one guy aped her -- good for him!

I have to agree, it looked like a good wind would have blown her off the stage. Sad that a lot of celebrities are doing the same thing. Come on, they are supposed to be role models, as actors, at least act the part of a responsible person to be looked up to.

I did some homework as I was shocked to see him too...However it appears that he was in character for a film he is shooting.....I looked up what he is working on, talked to someone who works on a set and said that he never broke character last night
