Michel Hazanavicius Academy Awards 2012 Best Director Winner

No surprises here. Despite the possibility of a Martin Scorsese upset, Michel Hazanavicius ended up bringing home the Best Director trophy at the 84th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

This was the first nomination and win for the French director, who burst onto the scene this year with the critical darling, "The Artist," a semi-silent film that captured the rise and fall of George Valentin (Jean Dujardin), a silent movie star coming to grips with the increased popularity of talkies.

"I am the happiest director in the world right now," Hazanavicius said while accepting the award.

Hazanavicius, who also won the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay and Best Director, defeated fellow nominees Scorsese ("Hugo"), Alexander Payne ("The Descendants"), Woody Allen ("Midnight in Paris") and Terrence Malick ("The Tree of Life").

Michel's next film, "The Players," will star "Artist" lead Jean Dujardin.

I know. It says he insulted the film's pup. There is nothing here about a pup. Ridiculous.

What insult to a pup?
09:50 AM on 02/27/2012
According to the AOl link that brought me to this article: "Best Director Winner Insulted Film's Pup". I didn't know the film starred a dog and didn't read any mention about him insulting anyone, much less a puppy.

Wow! Shame on Huffpost for the fake and bogus headline, and for trying to entertain readers by creating fake controversy and spreading fake "Hate them" messages about another country.

Not to mention that some of us have limits on our download allowances (I hate Hughes satellite) and if I'm stuck with a lot of video, I'll overrun my allowance and then be unable to work. Come on, Huffpo. I've read your articles, so it's not like you're putting a lot of effort into the stories anyway. Go ahead and write them.
