Paradise Lost 3

"Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory"

Nominated For: Best Documentary Feature

What's It About: Part of a set of HBO documentaries, "Purgatory" is the third in the series, which continues to examine the story of the the West Memphis Three, a group of teenagers who were accused of committing heinous murders in 1994. The first two "Paradise Lost" films raised disturbing questions about the seemingly circumstantial evidence that was used to convict the trio, as well as the time they spent in jail after the case. "Purgatory" acts as a complicated conclusion to this bizarre and tragic story.

Why You Should See It: The same reason people watched the first two documentaries: It's a completely engrossing true-life tale of murder, redemption and revenge. It's what can go horribly wrong when the odds are completely stacked against you. True, the documentary as a whole may be a tough pill to swallow, but you leave it feeling completely transfixed by both the story and odd cast of characters surrounding it.

It's Kind Of Like: "The Hurricane," or other stories about the wrongly accused.

How You Can See It: On HBO and HBO On Demand.
