Help

Posted: 02/10/2012 3:00 pm

On Sunday February 26, the biggest stars in Hollywood gather to bestow Oscars on the best movies of the year. With Billy Crystal hosting the festivities once again, movie fans will be watching how many Academy Awards are racked up by "The Help," "Hugo" and more.

And since we won't know who wins the big gold until that 8pm ET start-time on February 26, this is your chance to test your award show expertise.

Every weekday between now and February 24, we'll post new questions about what will happen on Hollywood's big night. (Right there on the right side of your screen) Submit your best guesses and you'll automatically be eligible for a daily prize of two free movie tickets. The grand prize -- a YEAR'S worth of free movie tickets -- will be awarded to a user with the most correct predictions.

Who will win Best Supporting Actress?

  • Berenice Bejo, "The Artist"

  • Jessica Chastain, "The Help"

  • Melissa McCarthy, "Bridesmaids"

  • Janet McTeer, "Albert Nobbs"

  • Octavia Spencer, "The Help"

Octavia Spencer was brilliant in her role .. She brought such power, strength & humor to the character. The Help was one of the years best films hands down . I love film and see one almost every week ... at least 48 a year .

so 73 years after Hattie McDaniel won for playing Mamie in Gone with the Wind....this actress will win for ...The Help? Is this how little progress has been made. Not suprising considering that All of Hollywood is bias and only allows certain people of one certain religion to be execs.

I'm sorry, ...NO I'M NOT ! .... But this movie "The Help" DOES NOT DESERVE AN ACADEMY AWARD by any means ! As a Black woman, I was ashamed of it ! Heck, I would think that as one of the White actresses who played in it, I would be ashamed of it !

But then again, I cannot stand the movie... "Driving Miss Daisy" either ! And I think Morgan Freeman just took that part to pay a few bills, because as I watched him in a recent interview, I don't think he was all that proud of that movie either ! He didn't even want to discuss that movie very much !

I'm rooting for Octavia Spencer. Anyone who doesn't vote for her should be treated to a slice of Minny's pie. LOL

I saw an interview with Morgan Freeman the other night, and he didn't seem to be all that proud of his role in "Driving Miss Daisy" either ! .... But, he paid a few bills from the proceeds !

"THE HELP" ......

I went to see this movie one afternoon, and I must tell you.... as a Black woman, I was ashamed of this movie ! Not saying the people in it did not do a good job, because they did ! But it simply was not "Oscar Winning material" at all ! And I am speaking of the movie plot itself ! And in the plot, the story of unjust wrongs, along with silly comedic vendettas to strike back was not what I as a Black woman would enjoy seeing anyone (no matter what color) get an award for.

It's like the movie "Precious" that didn't deserve an "Academy award" either ! And after it was released, the Black community found nothing entertaining about it either ! And most found it to be offensive. But someone made a few dollars on it, as I suppose happened in the case of the movie "The Help" ! But both of these movies, have made me choose what I go to see a bit more carefully !

I hope Octavia Spencer wins. The Help was one of the best movies I've seen in such a long time!
