What has been rumored since the end of January is closer to becoming fact: The 84th annual Academy Awards may nix in-show performances of the two Best Original Song nominees ("Man or Muppet" from "The Muppets" and "Real in Rio" from "Rio"). While no final decision has been made, at least one person tangentially involved in the Best Original Song category isn't waiting for the other shoe to drop. Judd Apatow will not let any potential Muppet snubs stand!

The writer/director/producer (and mentor to "Muppets" star Jason Segel) took to Twitter on Tuesday to express his displeasure with any plans to keep the Muppets away from the Kodak Theater on Feb. 26.

"The Oscars doing their best to make sure you won't have to listen to any Muppets," he wrote, before later adding, "we need to start a riot."

No word yet on organizing plans, but Apatow has spent the better part of the afternoon retweeting upset fans and urging people to send tweets directly to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (@TheAcademy). Check out a smattering of his tweets and retweets below.
