'Bridget Jones 3' Delays? Script Reportedly Causing Some Production Issues

Renee Zellweger

It's doubtful that you're champing at the bit to see another chapter in the story of Bridget Jones, but that hasn't stopped Working Title from forging ahead on "Bridget Jones's Baby," a project that is set to reunite original cast members Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Once the script gets worked out.

THR reports that "Bridget Jones's Baby" has been delayed because of script issues -- including some specifically brought up by Hugh Grant, who may even leave the project. Per THR:

"It's basically dead," says one insider. Another source, however, says the script problems will be worked out and "the movie will definitely shoot sometime this year."

OK, then! For now, the reports of "Bridget Jones's Baby" going under remain just reports; Working Title released a statement saying that the film was continuing forward.

"Reports that Hugh Grant has exited Bridget Jones's Baby are untrue," said Working Title co-chairman Tim Bevan in a statement. "We are still working on the script hence the delay to the start of production, but the film is going ahead as planned." Considering the first two films in the Bridget Jones series -- "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason" -- pulled down just over $541 million worldwide combined, here's guessing Working Title will do all it can to make sure "Baby" does go ahead as planned, even if it takes a little while longer to -- wait for it -- gestate. (It's Friday, y'all; corny jokes allowed!)

Please spare the world the agony of another Bridget Jones. The first one was cute. The second one was agony. A third one is simply a very bad idea.

Sequels rarely do well. Why doesn't Hollywood try to come up with novel ideas instead of recycling the old ones.

Apparently I offended someone! Renee is looking rough these days! I don't think there's enough makeup in the world to make her look any better. KC actually dodged a bullet! I'm no beauty queen, but I'm not trying to force my face on a really large audience on a very large screen! LOL!

Liked the first Bridget Jones - did NOT like the 2nd Bridget Jones...so if it is NOT as good as the first - save time/money and don't do it.

I don't watch many movies but did watch Renee Zellweger in two movies. "Cinderalla Man" and "New in Town". Liked both movies. She seems to be a throwback to the actors of the old days. That's the impression I got at least. Maybe I'm wrong, not an expert-but like her style of acting.

Scene one: Bridget Jones in hospital delivery room. Baby cries. Bridget dies. Colin Firth and Hugh Grant raise the baby with help from neighbor played by a good-looking woman. The End..

Bridget Jones got me through some pretty bad Christmases. Cannot wait but I worry about how many more times Zellweger can keep doing these exteme weight changes. It a cannot be healthy to gain and lose that much weight over and over. Elizabeth Taylor said that is what she thought was part of her health issues which started after "Who's Afraid of Virgnia Wolfe".

All I can say here is, THANK GOD !! The first two "Bridget Jone's Diary" films are horrendous. The character's melancholy and low self esteem just really makes the films that much more horrible. PLEASE continue to do us the favor by not ever finishing this or any other "Bridget Jones" films.

Long Awaited by who? ...Now I wish they would make a War of the Worlds part 2 or a Top Gun II
...Just think if theguys from Top Gun were to all come back as instuctors...I was in the Navy when the original movie was released and what it did for recruiting was amazing...Now I'm pretty sure that some recruiters were telling young recruits..."Sure you'll be able to fly jets too" lol....Anyway Instead of remakes lets pick up a story 20 or 25 years in the future of the lives of these movies

I'd rather watch Paris Hilton do math then Bridget Jones. They were as titillating as standing in line at the DMV.

It should be "Bridget Jones: Part 3", even though it's not being made.
