'Trouble With The Curve' Release Date: Clint Eastwood's New Film Scheduled For September
It looks like next year's award season just got a little more Clint Eastwood. In a moderately surprising twist, Warner Bros. has scheduled "Trouble With the Curve" for Sept. 28, putting Eastwood on the incredibly early and totally incomplete short-list of potential Best Actor nominees for 2013. The film, which Eastwood will not direct, is his first starring role since "Gran Torino" in 2008.
"Curve" follows an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) who reconnects with his daughter (Amy Adams) and goes on one last road trip to check out a top-flight prospect. Matthew Lillard, who enjoyed a nice comeback in 2011 with his role in "The Descendants," also co-stars in the Robert Lorenz film. Lorenz, who has produced ten Eastwood films since 2002, and was the first assistant director on "Million Dollar Baby," is making his directorial debut.
In other release date news, "Great Hope Springs," with Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell, has been moved out of the busy December season and back into August -- a month Streep and Carell enjoyed previous box-office success with "Julie & Julia" and "Crazy Stupid Love," respectively.
