Awards Show Challenge: Best Actor

Descendants

First Posted: 01/31/2012 11:00 am Updated: 02/ 2/2012 3:56 pm

On Sunday February 26, the biggest stars in Hollywood gather to bestow Oscars on the best movies of the year. With Billy Crystal hosting the festivities once again, movie fans will be watching how many Academy Awards are racked up by "The Help," "Hugo" and more.

And since we won't know who wins the big gold until that 8pm ET start-time on February 26, this is your chance to test your award show expertise.

Every weekday between now and February 24, we'll post new questions about what will happen on Hollywood's big night. (Right there on the right side of your screen) Submit your best guesses and you'll automatically be eligible for a daily prize of two free movie tickets. The grand prize -- a YEAR'S worth of free movie tickets -- will be awarded to a user with the most correct predictions.

Who will win Best Actor?

  • Demian Bichir, "A Better Life"

  • George Clooney, "The Descendants"

  • Jean Dujardin, "The Artist"

  • Gary Oldman, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"

  • Brad Pitt, "Moneyball"

Of all the movies nominated, we (my husband and I) have only seen Moneyball, so we can't compare, but he likes TTSS and wants Gary Oldman to win. I like Moneyball and want Brad to win.

It looks like the majority of the people who have a vote will also vote for Jean Dujardin. I have no idea how a movie without talking can win. Sounds boring to me!

Well, Gary Oldman is very happy to be nominated, and called it a fairytale. That Frenchman will probably win it.

When I read the reviews of the films nominated, I do not feel like seeing them. Though I like Clooney I never was impressed by the movies he was in or his performances.

I would like to think it's Oldman's year - granted, it will be more for his body of work than for this particular film (which left me a little confused) but he's been around 30 years and racked up some amazing performances.

Michael Fassbender should have won, but he's not even nominated. The best actor and best performance of the year. 'Shame' is an extraordinary, challenging and thought provoking film. The nominees don't come even close.
