She's a wonderful actress but I didn't enjoy the film at all! I'm rooting for Rooney Mara.

Ms. Streep and Viola Davis have the best chances to win

Michelle Williams could be in second/third place

Glenn Close has no chance of winning.**

Rooney Mara has no chance of winning

** Ms. Close's role is equal to Dustin Hoffman's "Tootsie". Hoffman dressed as a woman for the role, and was denied eligibility for an Academy Award.

None, really. It was an ensemble piece. None of the actors was on screen enough to qualify for a leading role.

I think Viola Davis is a very talented actress. But, she has played some variation of her character in"The Help" in other offerings and just as well. The achievement is noteworthy and deserving of her nomination, but I believe the award should go to Meryl Streep, who took on a role that stretched her abilities beyond anyone's imagination, yet she nailed the performance and made the character totally believable. Since Mrs. Thatcher is still relatively familiar and can be viewed online with ease, Ms. Street risked a lot accepting the role. If the performance were inaccurate or false, she could have been roasted. Moreover, had the performance been bad or even ordinary, the questions would have again arisen about why a British actress was not given the role. Instead, her performance has received raves, and those who worked closely with Mrs. Thatcher say that the performance captures her completely. Ms. Streep, nominated for the Oscar 17 times, has only won twice (not since 1980). Though she is our most celebrated actress, the academy seems to take her for granted, giving awards to flavor of the year actresses for far less memorable performances. This year, they should finally give her #3.

Absolutely agree with everything you say. I'll be rooting for Meryl, but expect they will once again take her performance for granted and give it to Viola Davis - for a variation of her other supporting role in "Doubt" - producing a runny nose while crying on cue. Academy members: give the bloody thing to Streep!

Haven't been to a movie since Da Vinci Code. Don't intend to go to another anytime soon. Once you've read a book, don't bother with the movie. Frankly, there are so many out there presently, it's confusing which to choose. That is if you can afford it.

I loved Da Vinci Code.

I don't care if I am in the minority, but I am sick to death of Viola Davis. Good actress, but very one-note in most of her roles. Also, her part in The Help was not a lead, it was supporting. There is no way she deserves the Oscar for this characterization.

She will win, though. I agree with you wholeheartedly! She is good, but I think the young woman in Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo was awesome. Viola will win, because it's a socially sensitive theme!
