Demi Moore Hospitalized For Substance Abuse Issues: Report

Demi Moore

Actress Demi Moore was taken to the hospital on Monday night after having a reported substance abuse issue. Per TMZ, a 9-1-1 call was made from Moore's Los Angeles home at 10:45 p.m.; upon arrival, paramedics spent 30 minutes checking her out before transporting her to a nearby hospital.

Sources tell TMZ that Moore's health problems are substance-abuse related and that she's seeking "further professional assistance." That was not confirmed by reps for Moore, however, who said their client was looking for help to combat fatigue.

"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," said one of Moore's representatives in a statement to Moviefone. "She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends." The rep added that there was no further information available at present time.

Moore had a difficult end to 2011. The actress filed for divorce from husband Ashton Kutcher in November after nearly six years of marriage.

"As a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," she told the Associated Press at the time.

UPDATE: Because of her current issues, Moore has had to drop out of "Lovelace," the biopic about the life of Linda Lovelace. She was set to cameo as Gloria Steinem in the film, which stars Amanda Seyfried as the titular porn star.

The wealthy have "substance abuse issues" that require hospitalization. The poor are just "dope addicts" that require prison. The U.S. is a great place to be rich.

I saw actress Demi Moore in a movie with actor Tom Cruise and thought she was great and wish her a sound medical recovery from her drug problem. Moore should get involved in some medical research program to help drug addicts or volunteer to help down-and-outers in skid-row missions. Drugs were very popular during the"roaring '20s," but are a big and worrisome problem today. Maybe the ten years Iraq-Iran crisis and war were contributing factors with PTSD war vets returning now to America. I served in European combat with the US Army in World War Two (1943-1945) and in those days a soldier would be honorably discharged and showed the front door and told to head for home and get a steady job or go to college on the GI Bill of Rights. But life today is very much more stressful and anxiety-ridden and some people (like Moore) can't seem to cope. But then again, people in the Great Depression and World War Two days also had similar problems. Best wishes to Demi Moore.

Wake up Demi !!! You are loved and we would rather see you bald and 180 lbs than sick at 90 lbs. Take better care of yourself ,if not for yourself ,for your fans who love you.

She's still a beauty, but she's an older beauty now. And apparently, aging is something she's never been able to handle. Apparently, having a younger handsome star as a husband was how she was able to cope. And apparently, when that younger handsome star husband finally did what nature programmed him to do, she came crashing down in a pile of insecurities. Frankly, I think it's pathetic, and I wonder how much Brice Willis is to blame here. Could he have not done things to get her help for her obvious insecurities? Should he have gone along so with her marriage to a kid?

Bruce Willis is to blame? That's funny

Jeeze, Bruce Willis is to blame in all this? Where is Demi's culpability for her own actions? Bottom line, everyone is responsible for themselves, especially once they reach adulthood. Anyone who has ever dealt with an addict knows they need to want the help and help themselves. Her "insecurities" are of her own devising. She needs to stop defining herself as how she looks and realize she is a beautiful and worthwhile human being no matter what her appearance is. Her issues are her own and her perception of her surroundings. She needs to help herself.

drugs aren't the answer to anyones problems, there no excuses for doing them, with all the ppl around here she should reach out to someone, not drugs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

When people in general are you problem (which I would imagine is a common issue in so cal), drugs sure make dealing with them a hell of a lot easier!

WOW...was Ashton that good, or maybe her grief is from the loss of the marriage itself...I think she was blindsided, their demise seemed to happen so quickly - no one saw it coming, Idon't think, especially her. Also it was very embarrassing and humiliating and her children have grown so close to Ashton and the fact that so many who said it would not last in fact turned out to be right. The whole "cougar" thing never works, especailly when the "cougar" is a woman. Male "cougars" tend to fare better, better being operative, than their female counterparts. By the way, I thought Lindsay Lohan was starrign as Linda Lovelace, now that would have been something to see but this new girl sounds like a dud.....

Let's face it. Demi is an "aging" actress in a town that puts a premium on youth. She just ended a marriage to an actor who was several years younger. Drugs of all types are readily available in Hollywood and the people there can afford them. It is a different world. It is sad but they don't seem to learn from all the substance abuse stories that come out of that town every year. The stars are always checking into rehab.

I'm not a huge fan of Demi but lets cool it on the substance abuse. This article clearly stated that a source said it was substance abuse which is not her or her representatives as crazy as that sounds. If that is the case then yes that is sad and hopefully she will get help. But what I really hate about this is what if it is exhaustion or something else. I'm definitely not one to give in to that "Oh I'm so rich and famous... poor me". But I would get so annoyed if I had a cold and people were checking me into rehab.
