Angelina Jolie May Quit Acting If She Can't 'Find Roles That Matter'

Angelina Jolie

Awhile back, to the woeful delight of the Internet, Brad Pitt dropped a career bomb -- that he maybe could be quitting acting in a mere three years (!) -- to focus on producing and being a father to a caravan of children.

Now, after the release of Angelina Jolie's (notoriously tumultuous) directorial debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey," Pitt's partner may be looking to bow out from acting, too.

"I still love acting–if I can find those roles that matter," Jolie told E! Online's Marc Malkin. "But if I don't, it's nice to be able to shine the spotlight on another actress your think is extremely talented and give her the spotlight."

Angie may be reconciling her roles as scene stealer and mom in the upcoming sleeping beauty adaptation, "Maleficent."

"It's neat for my kids," she said.

Gorgeous face, emaciated body (hope she's ok healthwise), great humanitarian (she's helped more people than most of us), and her personal life is none of my concern/none of my business.
Though I have heard a saying..."You can't steal a spouse out of a happy/thriving marriage." Makes sense to me!

She's just an actress, she's not running for office, she didn't "steal" YOUR man, and she happens to be very rich and very lucky...get a grip (and a life)!! Jealous much?!?!?

If Ms. Jolie is not happy with the quality of movie writing, then perhaps she should take pen to paper herself and develop stories that she thinks need to be produced into movies.

There are far too few female script writers in the movie business. AnJo could help change this, if she was so inclined to do so.

She'd have to learn how to read first.

Develop stories for yourself and other actors. There are people out in movieland who love a good story. I just saw the movie Gaslight on cable for the 8-10th time. Watching Ingrid Bergman change from an innocent girl to a sweet wife, to having mental doubts, to a strong b...h is one of the best performances ever given by a woman. We need women to write screenplays men have us stereotyped.

Oh my gosh. I feel so threatened now. What will we do without Angelina? Please Hollywood, pay her what she wants.
Brad - please tell me he will direct after all. I just can not deal with this!

Not hard to believe. These two have young beauty. They are both good looking, but their looks are fading compared to ten years ago. It's the nature of the business -- get out while you're not a joke. There are a few actors who can age and still be appealing: Meryl Streep, George Clooney... but this is rare. Angelina and Brad, as good looking as they are, will begin to age horribly.

I beg to differ. I think they are both still stunningly attractive and will likely age quite well.

and by aging horribly you mean no longer appearing young? People age.. there is no horrible to it.. some people even enjoy it and are grateful for it.. Movies featuring 20 somethings with 20 something issues are not my cup of tea..

Pull in your cat claws, people, and why not respect what others choose to do. The article is not about you.

How many people on here respect the people who choose to work on wall street? Choose to work in a bank? Choose to be a Lawyer? Choose to be a Conservative? Are you ready to do what you say?

wha? that was some amazing conflation.. there is a big difference between your comment and the spirit of the comment you replied to. What people do on Wall Street and in Banks and in Congress and in Court affects ME.. what actors do? Not so much. See the difference there.. ?

Roles that matter? How absurd. Again, and again these actors begin to believe their own press releases. They don't do anything that requires intelligence and, for many, not even a modicum of ability. Just a pretty face and figure and willingness to show off both.

They are not saving the world. They are pretending to be people who save the world. There is a difference. I love that Brad Pitt IS trying to save what Katrina destroyed in New Orleans. That is wonderful! That is worthy of praise. Acting in movies is not a meaningful activity in and of itself. It is a job where people THINK they are changing the world because they get to play a hero role. If they play enough serious roles they suddenly believe they are serious people. I love George Clooney. He thinks because his father was a reporter he is on the same level. Playing the part of a reporter doesn't suddenly give you the knowledge, experience and intuitive ability to BE a reporter. He is an actor playing the part of a man who actually DID the job of a reporter. He is not a reporter. He did not write the words he is saying. He did not experience the actions portrayed in the role he plays. His father was the reporter, he is a mimic...an entertainer. I haven't paid to see any of his movies either.
