Liam Neeson Ate Wolf Jerky To Prepare For His Role In 'The Grey'

Liam Neeson

To prepare for his wolf-boxing feature, "The Grey," Liam Neeson took method acting to the next level: eating frozen wolf meat.

"[Wolf jerky] was quite nice," the 59-year-old actor said during a Times Talks sit down.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), Neeson was alone in his commitment. Director Joe Carnahan ("The A-Team") said that other members of the cast and crew did not have the same iron constitution as Neeson, noting that they "got physically ill" after consuming the meat. "It was a mental reaction," he said, explaining that the wolf had been "frozen for months."

"The Grey" imagines Liam Neeson in charge of guiding wolf-terrorized pipeline workers to safety, after their plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness.

The actor laughed off the bitter cold, however, saying that the role required "basically no acting" because it was filmed in "negative 37 degree weather."

Now that's a man's man.

"The Grey" hits theaters January 27.

It's called a movie folks. It's not real. Movies are for entertainment purposes and I dont think this movie will make people go out and hunt wolves more. I'm a huge animal lover, but it's hypocritical to say that they shouldn't eat wolf because they're not violent when most people in our country eat cows and chickens which are even less violent.

As devout Roman Catholic Christian & a animal lover I am so bloody angry how could Liam Neeson ever think agreeing to play this part about killing wolves & then when I found out about eating mans best friend dogs ancestors all he has done as well as his cronies of fellow actors is to promote animal cruelty in the most barbaric way, it is bad enough wolves are trying to survive without man trying to make one of Gods creatures virtually extincted (in Islam The Blessed Prophet Muhammad as well our Lord Jesus Christ says it is a sin to be cruel towards Children & Animals as I would love the rest of the world would follow the teachings of Jesus & Muhammad) I will never ever want to see another Liam Neeson film ever again I hope Peta gets involve & other actors to speak out about what he has done, also he should be ashamed on what he has done knowing what cruelty has gone on in Northern Ireland during the troubles. Promote peace & love towards Gods Children & Animals please love Maureen xx PS sorry if I have gone on I am so passionate about Children & Animal rights & welfare.

Bill Maher put it best in his New Rules last week: Every Liam Neeson movie should be called I Am Going To Hunt You Down And Kill You.

Ever since his wife died, he's been taking every role that comes his way. That's why we see him in such low brow fare as Clash of the Titans and Battleship.

This movie perpetuates the myth of the Big Bad Wolf. The script is a travesty to wolves and their true nature. For the director to give the actors wolf jerky is asinine. I plan on boycotting this movie for so many reasons. I beg, on bended knee, that no one goes to see this movie.

Fine; I evolved, you didn't.

Wow, you have voiced my sentiments exactly.

To further any myths about wolves being "evil" and "dangerous" is completely irresponsible, esp. with the likes of Sarah Palin running around.

I see many films every year, but will not go to this one.

So, when I had bear 20 years ago, I was preparing for my role in the remake of Grizzly Adams?
05:56 PM on 01/18/2012
Bear is rarely eaten it that country. It has to be cured; and that takes a lot ot time and effort. Well, at least it used to, a while ago.
