Golden Globes: When Leo's Mom Met Jane Fonda

Leonardo Dicaprio

Since parting ways with Israeli model Bar Rafaeli, Leonardo DiCaprio has been seen galavanting about with a number of leggy doppelgangers -- but media-savvy as DiCaprio is -- his date for 69th annual Golden Globes was a no brainer: his mother. (Yeah, it's cute.)

The jowl-less "J. Edgar" star didn't go stag at the after parties, either; Mrs. DiCaprio was rubbing elbows at some of the most exclusive Hollywood fetes.

Putting on his best school boy, DiCaprio introduced his mother to an unsuspecting Jane Fonda. "Say hi to Mom," he said.

"Mom!” Fonda responded, which was a little literal, but it works. (We can only assume they talked about exercise after that.)

Wow. Jane Fonda's courageous prior journalism and decades of staunch activism and Leo's mother's work with the Bioneers and environmental activism, and this article flushes that rare courage and conviction down a Fonda exercise reference? Is anyone awake at HuffPaol or are you all dialing it in?

Why is there more focus on the actors and host than on the movies themselves? The Golden Globes are a bit out of touch with what really entertains audiences and makes a successful film. 2011 was a great year for movies but all the wrong ones get the attention… movies like Margin Call, Ironclad and even Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are snubbed by the awards. Each of these and more made my Top 10 Movies of 2011… tell me your favorite at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/01/top-10-movie-picks-of-2011.html and check out my cinema-inspired artwork on my artist’s blog.
