Golden Globes 2012: Stars Reportedly Have Trouble With Seat Limitations

Anna Kendrick

The Golden Globes has never been seen as an upstanding awards show, but at least there were seats. Well, until this year.

According to a report from Vulture, ceremony organizers are having difficulty seating all the stars that plan on attending the Sunday night soiree. "It's a nightmare every year," an anonymous studio publicity chief told Vulture, "But this year is worse than ever, because this year, there are so many ensembles nominated."

While the nominated films and television shows are partially to blame -- films like "The Help" and "Bridesmaids" are loaded ensembles that run almost ten deep -- so, too, is the tiny venue. The Globes are held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hill Hilton, a far cry from the Kodak Theater where the Oscars take place.

In an email to Vulture, a Hollywood Foreign Press Association representative explained the seating crunch:

The Globes are an intimate event and in keeping with that, we sometimes have limited tickets, especially in years like this when there are indeed a number of ensemble casts. It is always our goal to accommodate as many people associated with the nominations in the room but we do have a finite number of seats. We are not always able to accommodate significant others, co-producers and such. As much as we would love to have everyone associated with these accomplished films and television shows in the room, we just don't have the seating for everyone involved.

Those limitations could be a problem. Judd Apatow is going to the Globes on Sunday night, but was reportedly unhappy that the "Bridesmaids" producer team couldn't all get seats. Of course, things could be worse for Apatow: Anna Kendrick -- the female lead in the multi-nominated comedy "50/50" -- will apparently not be able to go at all. At least she won't get mocked by Ricky Gervais?

So the Golden Globes are over, and Anna Kendrick wasn't even in attendance. I'd still like to let her know that she can have a seat in my lap any time she wants. Until she starts getting old and weird-looking, that is. LOL.

This is just another venue for the spoiled rotten hollywood elite to pat themselves on the back and say how wonderful they are. It doesn't interest me and that's why I don't watch. "Seating is limited? How dare no one save a seat for my poodle. I'll have someone's job for this. Do they know how many babies I've adopted?"

I wonder how America ever got by without stars when those pioneers were chopping down the forest to build log cabins. They must have been really depressed. They make movies and tv shows and give themselves awards and like the ants that we are we sit and watch it as they pat each other on the back. We are morons

No matter what else is happening in the world, Hollywood is off on their own little tangent. If ever there were a group of people farther removed from reality than politicians, this is it!

I was hoping this article would include the purpose and origins of the golden globes. It could have been intelligent instead of whinny. Oh well. :(

Wow, some of these comments are sooo random and angry for absolutely no reason whatsoever. What do "starving children" and "economic woes of the world" have to do with this? These people are no different than anyone else in America and probably came from humble means and obscurity just like many of you nasty, angry people and they worked hard and utilized their talents against all odds and got jobs in a very compettitive industry and when they finally get to be a part of something that rose to the top, they can't even sit with the cast of people that they worked with. No, its not the "end of the world" but then again, no one said it was, they just said some are disappointed and/or have issues with it so the "criticism" / "hating is very silly and unneccessary. Sheesh, get lives, so sick of dorks, squares, and loosers trolling the Entertainment sections attacking anyone more rich, famous, or cooler than them. Its actually kind of sad and its you that looks like the nobody in the cafeteria hating on the kids at the popular table. Have some self respect. Jealousy is not attractive, at least try to hide it...

Lol. Too true though. I have to say at times I can be that person. I like how u pointed out all that but was not degrading about it. U have a future in politics. Maybe a reviewer or critic. A lot of us are mad at the world and get caught up in that mind set that everyone is out to get us in some way. I see it and I live it at times. Thanks for your input.

I just wish people would think about what they say COMPLETLY befor they blast it out to the world. Its very hard to make it in showbusiness and most of the people who will be in that room come from poor families and small towns and truly beat the odds, let them have their fun, its their time to shine. What if it was a friend or family member of yours? Half of these angry folks would be having a viewing party with everyone they know tonight...
