SXSW: Joss Whedon's 'Cabin in the Woods' to Premiere in Austin (VIDEO)
Book your tickets, Joss Whedon fanboys (and girls): The director will debut his horror film, "The Cabin in the Woods," at the SXSW film festival on March 9. It will be the Austin film fest's opening night feature, festival organizers announced via press release on Wednesday.
The film, which its official site describes as "a mind-blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out" was made in 2009, but is finally getting a release now after two years on the shelf. That's a good thing since star Chris Hemsworth is a big name following his success with "Thor."
Whedon will also participate in a Q&A at the festival March 10, in which he will surely be peppered with questions about his other 2012 release, "The Avengers." No word if Hemsworth will be on hand to promote the film too.
Whedon produced and co-wrote "Cabin" with Drew Goddard (who also directed). Goddard has his own impressive geek cred, having written "Cloverfield," and lots of "Lost," "Alias," Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" episodes.
The SXSW festival runs March 9-17.
