If this all sounds familiar, it's because Gervais has gone on and on and on about the supposed controversy he created at the 2011 awards show, even after it had dropped off the radar. However, when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that Ricky would be returning as host for this year's Globes, the same stories started circulating again.
Gervais admits (or tries to) that he doesn't really care about it all: "I do the Golden Globes like some people play golf on a Saturday. It's fun, but it can't affect me because come Monday morning, I'll be writing a new stand-up show ... so it's not exactly bravery."
What does Ricky have in store for this year's awards? Obviously, a Mel Gibson joke. Other than that, he promises there will be controversy.
You can read the entire profile, where Gervais discusses his comedy career and working TV shows like "The Office" and "Life Is Too Short," over on the Times. The Golden Globes airs this Sunday on NBC.
