In an interview with TeenSpot, "Oz" actress Joey King revealed that Raimi will honor the original film by showing the beginning of his movie in black and white, then transferring to color when Dorothy arrives in Oz.
"We're doing the same thing as the first 'Wizard of Oz,' we're making it black and white in the beginning and then (it gets) colorful when we enter the Land of Oz," said King. "It's also going to be a 3D movie; I'm so excited about that. It's going to add a whole new level to the awesomeness of Oz."
Say what you want about a "Wizard of Oz" remake, at least Raimi is trying to pay homage to the original. The new version, which stars James Franco, Michelle WIlliams, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, Zach Braff and Abigail Spencer, will hit theaters on March 8, 2013.
