The actress -- who has been romantically linked to Ryan Gosling -- is headlining the mother-daughter dramedy, "Girl in Progress." In the new film, Mendes plays a floundering mother, who struggles to make correct life choices and parent her 16-year-old, super-smart daughter.
From the trailer, the film feels a bit like "Erin Brockovich" or an early 2000s movie starring Jennifer Lopez. With Mendes throwing her star power behind the film, its relatively fresh writer (Hiram Martinez) and a measured supporting cast of Matthew Modine and Patrica Arquette, you never know -- could be the next big thing.
The girl does have good taste...
