CATEGORIES Movie NewsIt looks like the 84th annual Academy Awards just got a little more "Hunger Games." The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has announced that Jennifer Lawrence (a.k.a. Katniss Everdeen) will read off the names of the newest Oscar nominees on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Lawrence, who was nominated for Best Actress last year after her breakout performance in "Winter's Bone," will handle the announcing duties with AMPAS president Tom Sherak.
This influx of youth to the proceedings is to be expected: producer Brian Grazer has been tasked with making the Academy Awards appeal to a younger audience, which might explain the Funny or Die-produced trailer for the broadcast starring Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel.
Lawrence, who co-starred in the 2011 releases "X-Men: First Class," "Like Crazy" and "The Beaver," will next been seen in "The Hunger Games," out on March 23.
