2011 was the best of times and worst of times for Natalie Portman. The actress won an Oscar for her portrayal of Nina in 'Black Swan' and also gave birth to her first child. Hooray! Unfortunately, her onscreen work was not nearly as successful -- at least creatively: she appeared in the derided 'No Strings Attached' and 'Your Highness,' and her performance in 'Thor' was thought of as a film low-point. Well, it appears Portman might get back on track in 2012: per the Los Angeles Times, she's wanted by Lana and Andy Wachowski for 'Jupiter Ascending.' The film would be her first since giving birth.
Little is known about 'Jupiter' beyond the basics: the Wachowskis will direct, following their work on the film 'Cloud Atlas,' and production will begin later this year. Portman previously worked with the siblings on their production of 'V for Vendetta,' a role for which she famously shaved her head.
As the Times mentions
, Portman previously flirted with sci-fi when she was in discussions for the leading role in 'Gravity'; the Alfonso Cuaron film eventually cast Sandra Bullock in the part.
