Perhaps 'Bridesmaids' will get that Best Picture nomination after all. The Producers Guild of America announced its ten selections for Producer of the Year on Tuesday, and Judd Apatow is among the nominees for his work on the record-breaking R-rated comedy. This, after 'Bridesmaids' also earned an ensemble nomination from SAG, bodes well for its Oscar bona fides. Also on the somewhat surprising short list: George Clooney for 'The Ides of March' and 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.' Not bad! But which supposed Oscar contenders didn't make the cut?
Well, 'The Tree of Life' and 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close,' both of which were also ignored by the Golden Globes. This doesn't mean either film is totally finished with regards to Oscar consideration, but note that the PGA hit nine of the 10 Best Picture nominees last year and eight out of 10 the year before. Of course, those stats don't matter too much for 2012: the PGA kept its list at 10 nominees, while the Oscars will honor between five and 10 films.
Below, check out the complete list of PGA nominees, including the choices for animated feature.
