'Declaration of War'
Release Date: Jan. 27, 2012 Leave it to the French to take a romance movie and make it intense, serious and heartrending. Romeo and Juliette (see what they did there?) fall in love at first sight, move in together, and have a baby. That's when everything changes -- for the worse -- but the loving couple rely on their love to pull them through. -
'The Vow'
Release Date: Feb. 10, 2012 Now here's something we've heard before: After his wife (Rachel McAdams) gets into an accident and falls into a coma, Leo (Channing Tatum) does everything to bring her back and rekindle their love. Check out the release date -- convenient. -
'Perfect Sense'
Release Date: Feb. 10, 2012 Ewan McGregor in his second romance movie in as many months? Interesting. This one's creative, at least: A chef (McGregor) and a scientist (Eva Green) fall in love just as an epidemic begins to rob people of their sensory perceptions. Imagine loving someone without smell, sight, touch or taste? We shudder to think. -
'Wanderlust'
Release Date: Feb. 24, 2012 It's actually a bit shocking that this premise hasn't been used before in a rom-com: Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd are a newly unemployed couple seeking fulfillment in their lives, so hey, they decide to join a rural commune and experiment with the whole 'free love' thing. David Wain (''The State'') directs, so pay attention to this one. -
'Tyler Perry's Good Deeds'
Release Date: Feb. 24, 2012 In the latest Tyler Perry flick, Perry plays a well-to-do businessman in the days before his wedding. Unfortunately, right around the same time, he starts developing intense feelings for a single mom. We can only guess how this one turns out. -
'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'
Release Date: March 9, 2012 The title will throw you off, but don't let it fool you: this movie had audiences on their feet at the Toronto International Film Festival. Earnest and genuinely funny, it follows uptight scientist (Ewan McGregor) and carefree consultant (Emily Blunt) as their lives intersect. Comedic breaks provided by a hilarious deadpan Kristen Scott Thomas. -
'Playing the FIlm'
Release Date: March 9, 2012 When a former athlete (Gerard Butler) decides to redeem himself by coaching his son's soccer team, he finds himself in a moral quagmire -- all of the kids' gorgeous moms are throwing themselves at him. Honestly, it must be really, really hard to be Butler. -
'Mirror, Mirror'
Release Date: March 16, 2012 OK, so this isn't a romance per se, but we all know the story. After Snow White (Lily Collins) and her seven compatriots finagle their way past the evil queen (Julia Roberts), we know that a prince (Armie Hammer) will be waiting. This is probably the closest to fairy tale love we'll be seeing in 2012 -- so enjoy! -
'The Lucky One'
Release Date: April 20, 2012 After serving three tours in Iraq, a Marine (Zac Efron) returns home to the United States on a quest to find an unknown woman he believes to be his good luck charm. We're pretty sure any woman on the continent will take that title, Zac, so don't be too picky. -
'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2'
Release Date: Nov. 16, 2012 Now that Bella (Kristen Stewart) has joined the vampire world with Edward (Robert Pattinson), things are only going to heat up in the ''Twilight'' universe. While their love isn't in question since they're now husband and wife, the strength of their bond will be tested by the meddlesome Volturi. -
'Les Miserables'
Release Date: Dec. 7, 2012 This classic story of love and redemption has had so many iterations it doesn't need a description. This star-studded version will have tongues wagging. Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman (already a Broadway darling) play the titular leads, with a rumored appearance by Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier. A spectacle no matter how you slice it. -
Bonus: 'The Wedding'
Release Date: Oct. 19, 2012 What's a year without a romance movie starring Katherine Heigl? In this one, a long-divorced couple (Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton) fakes being married as their family reunites for a wedding. This flick has already been retitled and has been in production for some time, so maybe all the fine tweaking will make it a gem.
