"I loved the trailer for 'Inception,'" David Fincher told Moviefone. "I just don't want to make the trailer for 'Inception.' I appreciate what it was, but I don't want my trailer to go, "Whomb ... Whomb!" I feel that's their thing. They did it beautifully, more power to them. They branded a sound. They branded a way of this sort of throbbing call to action. Great. 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' is not that. It's a very different thing. You know, it's a much different experience." Indeed it is; which makes you wonder if Ridley Scott feels the same way following the release of the first trailer for 'Prometheus.'
Over disturbing images of space turmoil, the soundtrack features that familiar 'Inception' horn to increasingly tense levels until it culminates with a woman (perhaps co-star Noomi Rapace?) screaming, "Please!" Yikes and all, but: familiar. "They went looking for our beginning," reads a title card at the end. "What they found could be our end." BRRNNNNNNNNN. Space 'Inception,' y'all!
Starring Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Guy Pearce and Rapace, 'Prometheus' hits theaters on June 8, 2012. As you have probably heard by now, it may or may not be an 'Alien' prequel and/or occur in the 'Alien' universe.
